Still your mind. Move your body.

A little about me

I’m Verity, the face behind Satya Yoga. The Sanskrit word Satya and my name share the meaning "truth" or "inner truth". In my yoga practice and teaching, I focus on encouraging others to discover their own inner truth and connect more deeply with themselves.

I’m trained in Vinyasa, Hatha and Somatic techniques and prefer a flow-based style that nurtures holistic well-being. Each of my classes are designed to integrate movement, meditation, breathwork and thematic inspirations. Creating a balanced and enriching experience.

Movement has always been a passion of mine with a long career as a choreographer and dance teacher. I have always been captivated by how movement can express deep emotions and tell compelling stories.

I have always had a strong and natural connection to the wellbeing of others, and this combined with my love for movement led me to study Dance Movement Psychotherapy. It truly was an eye-opening experience to discover how movement can serve as the bridge to your subconscious mind and aid in emotional healing. I later discovered for myself that this is a key principle of yoga.

My exploration continued with the discovery of Somatics and finally training in a somatic approach to yoga, I found a way to blend both the science and spiritual expression of my practice. Yoga has been a transformative journey for me, revealing a deep connection between the body and mind.

I believe that yoga is for everyone—it’s not about how flexible you are, your level of fitness, how spiritual you are or how you look in a posture. These are just byproducts. To me, yoga is about your willingness to focus inward and connect with yourself through mindful movement, breath awareness and quieting the mind.

My aim is to build a sense of community and hold a space where everyone feels welcome to explore their unique journey.

Somatic Style Yoga Practice

Somatic yoga combines mindful movement with breath awareness, creating a way to relax and find balance in our busy lives. Slower floor-based practices, which are perfect for beginners, aid recovery from injury and work to release tension caused by long–term trauma.

The class focuses on realigning unhelpful postural habits and centering the breath to calm and settle the nervous system, helping you find peace and strength through gentle, mindful practice.
